5 things to think about when choosing satnav for your enterprise mobility project 2/5

Satnav is everywhere but what should you think about when choosing a product to use in your Enterprise Mobility project. Here are some areas we consider critical:

2. Does it come bundled with an API and as much help as you need to build it into your application?
In most enterprise mobility applications integrating navigation into the primary application is an important part of the complete solution.
Through the use of the Enterprise Navigator API, ISV partners can easily add GPS navigation to enterprise mobility solutons such as field service and transportation applications.
IT generally only takes a minimal effort to integrate Enterprise navigator and add navigation as a feature to your mobility software.

How Push to Talk can add value to your Enterprise Mobility project

First up - what is Push-to-Talk?

Push to Talk technology provides users with the ability to quickly find one another across a network and engage in a brief communication. PTT is not a replacement for interactive forms of communication using wireless cellular or wired communications, but it is well suited for quick spoken, text or sticky note interactions. PTT is a half-duplex mode like a walkie-talkie where transmission can occur in both directions but not at the same time. The inability to interrupt lends itself to quick exchanges of information, as is the case with the market for business users that need to quickly exchange information and then get on with their business.

Why is this of interest to the Enterprise user? What are the benefits?
Enterprise users tend to invest in durable rugged mobile computers in PDA or Tablet form factors to mobilise their business applications. PTT allows the convergence of another feature onto these portable platforms thus saving further investment cost management and asset management headaches in issuing mobile phones and walkie talkies

What Makes HipVoice such a great solution for Enterprise Users?
HipVoice is aimed at the enterprise user - that is where the majority of our existing clients reside.
HipVoice has been designed from the outset to enhance and leverage both the initial investment in enterprise mobile technology and the ongoing investment in a data network either WLAN or WWAN. HipVoice saves precious time and productivity by letting people communicate instantaneously with just a push of a button. No need to purchase phones walkie-talkies or proprietary devices, all you need to do is load the HipVoice software onto your wireless network and everyone can now have the ability to communicate with one another.

HipVoice is easy to use. You can be up & running in a matter of minutes. It also works in the background while you are using other applications such as a terminal emulation or inventory management or mobile field service. HipVoice currently works on pretty much the entire product line for the leading enterprise mobility companies. HipVoice is compatible with various operating systems.

HipVoice represents the true spirit of convergence. The software is reliable, affordable and user-friendly for workers to instantly speak with colleagues at a touch of a button.
The solution can be fully hosted by us on your behalf or you can acquire the server & client licenses and build it into your own IT Network
HipVoice is applicable to many vertical markets where ad-hoc spoken text or sticky note communication is required.

xTablet T7000 Rugged Tablet PC 3 keyboard options

On our xT7000 tablet we have 3 keyboard options to make inputting data as simple as possible for operators:

  1. Windows 7 on screen pop up keyboard

  2. Built in numeric/function keypad

  3. Plug in QWERTY keyboard
Whilst application designers will always aim to provide field workers with drop down and multiple choice routes for data entry sometimes needs to add a narrative to a record so using a keyboard is unavoidable. Users of rugged tablets are often stuck with using the on screen keyboard when the most ergonomic route may well be a specific numeric keypad, especially in high volume scenarios like Direct Store Delivery. With our integrated numeric backlit and tactile keypad and available full QWERTY users can capture valuable information to ensure better business decisions and provide increased customer service. The integrated keypad is a backlit numeric keypad that includes programmable keys as well as Enter, up / down / left / right navigation, tab, escape,Security, rotate display, function key barcode scan and suspend/power Full Stop! Also included is a built in decimal point/full stop key. No more assigning short cuts from other keys. Very useful where surveying and measurements are being recorded.

Where the user needs to add narrative and would prefer not to use the on screen keyboard our QWERTY keypad attaches to the bottom of the xT7000.
